December 7, 2018 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Jane,

It was a pleasure seeing you and Abby Baird at the mansion today. Thank you, and Connie Kellam, for thinking of us and wanting to partner on this wonderful and needed community event.

Sea level rise is such an important local topic, especially considering Norfolk's unique placement as a mission-critical, highly diversified and residential coastal community.

We're so glad you could take a preliminary look at the mansion and talk with us today as well. I also mentioned two other Woman's Club members that you will meet soon.

Ginny Alberts is happy to help with this project. Ginny is a retired educator and active in the community, so I know she will be a great asset to our partnership. Ginny will be spearheading our WCN Education Committee in the coming months at the Club, so we are happy to have her aboard.

Sheila Kilpatrick is our Communications Chair and a marketing professional, by both vocation and avocation. I know we spoke of circulating this event on Next Door, as well as through our other civic channels and will also look at social media. Sheila is a marketing powerhouse and we are fortunate to have her insight to help plan.

If I could have Abby Baird's contact info, that will help connect us all together

At today's preliminary meeting, we discussed gathering for a planning meeting on DEC. 7th @ 10 a.m. at the Club.

Here's a summary of my recollection of our discussion, so that all are looped in. Please advise if I missed anything or anything is incorrect:
______________________________________________________________________________________

*C-Change Conversation: To heighten awareness on problem, causes and affects and to ensure conversation about this important topic continues. This topic is one of great local importance and impact, considering our unique placement as a coastal community.
* Jan. 17th event @ WCN is free of charge - doors open 6:45 pm and program commences at 7 pm for one hour (note change from prior 6:30 pm start time)
*Parking passes along Mowbray Arch - WCN will email to GCN so that guests can print their own at sign up. WCN will have valet in front of mansion, to direct vehicles and also have additional copies of parking passes available. (As we share the semi-circular driveway with our next door neighbor, there is no passage beyond the orange cones in the driveway).
*Coffee / water plus cake or nibbles available at reception to follow presentation. Perhaps a good place for a donation jar (?) with signage.
*WCN to provide / set up: water, coffee/ urns, cups and coffee service - GCN to provide nibbles.
*Projector and Screen (?) to be provided by Garden Club of Norfolk. Please advise if screen proves to be challenging.
*Joint team of 4 to set up hours prior to event (request 2 Garden Club/ 2 WCN members)
*WCN member will be available for guest speakers to test their equipment (time tbd)
*Preliminary Advertising: Sheila will be a huge help with ideas for scheduling and media channels: Next Door, Civic Leagues, Ghent Living Magazine, WCN facebook, Pilot newspaper article, radio PSA, etc.
*RSVP system: GCN to explore event rsvp tracking
* Mayor, Council Representatives, Neighbors, etc. will be invited. Schools may also have a strong interest considering our coastal community.
* AUDIENCE QUESTIONS: provide index cards/ pens at check in - guests to write questions and forward to point person(s) who will review and decide on a couple of general interest / non-political questions for speakers to answer at end of presentation. Other guests with questions may ask presenters during reception.

Thank you,
Paige
