Amanda Skie Gallon

1987 – 2006

Amanda Skie Gallon, beloved daughter of WCN Member Samantha Peavy, (aka “Sam the Lasagna Lady”) tragically lost her life to gun violence in Chicago, IL. She was 18 years old.

Amanda loved life and people, exhibiting a unique joy and care that radiated wherever she went. Her love of life was only surpassed by her abiding love for her own family. Amanda was a leader, encourager and friend to all: peers, authorities and everyone in between. She never met a stranger. Amanda strived to help other young women find their positive voices and passions. Her favorite color, fittingly, was Purple, which is associated with royalty, nobility, power and ambition.

Thus, the Womans Club of Norfolk is proud to offer the Amanda Skie Gallon Scholarship, to be given to a deserving female who has triumphed over challenges and seeks to successfully find her voice, passion and financial security through post secondary education.

This WCN Amanda Skie Gallon Scholarship will honor Amanda’s memory as it carries on her legacy and unending joy, blessing many lives for years to come.
